How to Share a Novel Chapter as a Video Without Any Editing Skills
You do not need to know how to edit video to share your story as one. Here is how writers with zero video experience can go from finished comic pages to a shareable video in a few minutes.
The real barrier
Most writers who want to share video content never start because they assume it requires software, a timeline, audio tracks, and hours of work. None of that is true here. The whole process takes less time than writing a caption.
What happens automatically
When you export a video, several things happen without you doing anything:
A short narration is written for each comic page — you do not write a single word of the script
A narrator voice reads the narration aloud — no microphone, no recording, no retakes
Subtitles appear on screen timed to the voice — no manual syncing
The pages are assembled into a video in the right order — no timeline, no cutting, no arranging
The result is an MP4 file you can upload anywhere — no exporting settings to figure out
The three decisions you actually make
Everything else is automatic. The only choices you make are these three:
1. Which pages to include
Check the pages you want in the video. You can include up to 10. Pick your favorites from a chapter, or choose a handful that tell a complete mini-story on their own.
2. Which voice to use
Pick a language and then a narrator voice from the list. If you are not sure, try two or three on a short test export first. Your choice is saved so you do not have to pick again next time.
3. Vertical or horizontal video
If you want to post on TikTok or Reels, choose portrait (vertical). For YouTube or embedding on a website, choose landscape (horizontal). That is the only format decision you need to make.
Where to upload the video once it is ready
Download the MP4 file and upload it directly to whichever platform you use. Every major platform accepts MP4. There is no compression or conversion step needed.
TikTok
Tap the + button, upload your video, write a caption, add hashtags, and post. Use the portrait format.
Instagram Reels
Upload as a Reel for the best reach. The subtitles are already baked in so viewers can follow with sound off.
YouTube
Upload as a regular video or as a Short. The landscape format works better for a regular YouTube upload; portrait for Shorts.
Your story page or website
Embed it on your Wattpad profile, author website, or link-in-bio page so new visitors immediately see what your story is about.
A realistic time estimate
If your comic pages are already generated, here is roughly how long each step takes:
Selecting your pages
~1 min
Picking a voice
~2 min
Waiting for the video to generate
~2 min
Downloading and uploading to your platform
~2 min
Total
~7 min
Your story deserves to be heard
You spent real time writing and illustrating. Seven minutes to turn one chapter into a video that people can watch, share, and discover is a good return. You do not need to learn video editing. You just need to press export.
